THE STORY

"Every order that comes through Maudlin. has a story to tell."

THE POWER OF SENTIMENTAL SEWING.

" THE LOVE AFFAIR "

What started as sewing a few small blankets for my kids quickly spiralled into hoodies, “Grow With Me” clothing, and — if I’m honest — a full-blown, can’t-stop-thinking-about-it, checking-fabric-sales-at-midnight kind of love affair with making things. I discovered the magic of turning a flat piece of fabric into something wearable, functional, and totally unique. My kids loved picking their own fabrics, and I loved watching them wear something made with my own two hands (and maybe a few curse words when the bobbin jammed). Sewing became my creative escape, my challenge, and my happy place — and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Over the years, Maudlin has grown from a humble home-based passion project — picture me sewing at the kitchen table, dodging snack crumbs — into a real, live brick-and-mortar store in Orangeville, Ontario, you can stroll right into. Inside, you’ll find shelves of carefully chosen Canadian-made gifts, locally sourced home décor, and unique artisan products, a cozy Memory Studio where we can chat about transforming your sentimental fabrics into custom memory quilts, pillows, or keepsakes, and the fully stocked Maker Studio — complete with sewing machines you can borrow (because who needs to commit to owning one when you can “test drive” ours?). It’s part boutique, part creative workshop space, and entirely designed to make you feel welcome.

SEWING, SENTIMENT AND SHOPPING
THE MAUDLIN TRIFECT

Today, Maudlin is my creative heart with three big loves:

  1. Teaching sewing — through hands-on sewing workshops and courses, where you’ll learn that once you know how to sew, you can make anything. You’ll reduce textile waste, save clothing from the landfill, and feel proud every time you see something you made.

  2. Creating memory items — from custom memory quilts and pillows to teddy bears made from cherished clothing, so your most meaningful fabrics don’t stay hidden in a closet, but become keepsakes you can use and treasure.

  3. Curating the boutique — a carefully selected collection of Canadian-made books, home goods, gifts, and self-care products from talented small businesses across the country. Every item is chosen to bring beauty, usefulness, and joy into your everyday life.
