April - Learn To Sew PART 1 - Adults
Learn to sew in a calm, supportive space — no experience required.
Service Description
Maudlin’s Learn to Sew for Beginners is a welcoming, hands-on class designed for adults who want to feel comfortable and confident using a sewing machine. Whether you’ve never sewn before or your machine has been sitting unused for years, this class walks you through the essentials step-by-step in a relaxed and supportive environment. Each session includes a demonstration followed by guided hands-on sewing so you can learn at your own pace while building real, practical skills. Throughout the program, students will complete three beginner-friendly projects that gradually build sewing confidence and technique: • Lined Drawstring Bag Learn foundational sewing skills including sewing straight seams, pressing seams properly, creating a lining, and constructing a finished bag with a drawstring casing. This project introduces the basic structure of sewing projects and helps build comfort using the sewing machine. • Set of Four Quilted Mug Rugs This project introduces basic quilting techniques. Students will learn how to layer fabric with batting, sew through multiple layers, quilt simple patterns, and neatly finish edges. These small quilted coasters are perfect for protecting surfaces and make great handmade gifts. • Lined Zipper Pouch Learn how to confidently install a zipper while constructing a fully lined pouch. This project teaches techniques such as sewing close to a zipper, turning a lined project right-side out, and creating a polished, professional-looking finish. By the end of the program, students will have a strong understanding of sewing machine basics, foundational construction techniques, and the confidence to continue sewing projects on their own. All machines, tools, and materials are provided. Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure everyone receives individual guidance in a calm, supportive, and creative environment. Ready to learn a new skill and create something with your own two hands? Reserve your spot today and start your sewing journey at Maudlin.
